I have just checked my I-485 status online and found out that the message for my case has changed to the following:

"Current Status:
On March 30, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours".

Meanwhile, the status of my wife changed to "Approved" on the same date. I am the primary applicant. What is that "welcome notice" for me? Is it interview, approval or something else?

Also, I have NOT received any emails regarding my case, but my wife receive 2 emails about her case approval.

I think you were approved. I don't think your wife would be approved without you being approved first, if you are the principal applicant.

Besides, when you are approved you receive a letter welcoming you to the United States.. like we haven't been here for ages already.. :)

Now I can say that it was not a welcome to hell of next round of processing not, but a very good sign meaning next day approval. However, my wife was indeed approved ahead of me, and she has already received her plastic card dated March 30.
