Well, I know about the I-134 (Affadavit of Support) but i am confused about what is the WELCOME LETTER?

My classmate who recently got an visa told me that he didn't required to have a I-134 form filled. But instead he showed a welcome letter that is sent by his aunt already living in the us? I m confused like if the welcome letter and I-134 form are both same.. or they have their different meaning and stands for two meanings? I asked him about that but he himself is confused but he has his passport stamped now. I am talking about Nepal (Asia).

Can anybody clarify me with the stuffs? You are suggestions are warmly welcomed and thanked.

Xpektator,
Welcome letter is a very simple and general letter written by the sponsor to the consular expressing interest in assisting and helping the dv winner to settle in the US at initial stage. Things like airport pickup, rooms and boards and etc can be expressed as intended help..That's it. I-134 is a legal form (contract done with attorneys pressense in the US) filled by the sponsor. I-134 has more credibility but it also means more liability towards sponsor.

welcome letter

welcome letter can also mean the letter sent by USCIS to a new immigrant after he arrives. But in this case i think you are refering to the answer above which is correct
