What is the procedure for EAD renewals now?

My lawyer suggested me to apply to the service center (NSC)...
since the local INS may not entertain your request for renewal. I mailed the paperwork (485 receipt notice, copy of original EAD, $120 fee, copy of drivers license, 2 ins photos with your name using pencil on the back) to INS-NSC,
Application for Employment Authorization (I-765),
P.O. Box 87765, Lincoln, NE
68501-7765
Once you get the receipt notice for the renewal, you can try at the local INS personally. I am in the same boat. I applied on apr 28th. my original expires on may 29th 2002. yet to receive the approval for the renewal.

Does the local INS allow walk-ins for EAD extension because Chicago web site clearly says that for EAD extensions they do NOT encourage/entertain walk ins.
So if allowed just show up at their entrance at 4 am and get it done right?
Any info greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I don\'t know if they welcome the local visiting in chicago.
In denver, that\'s the case. I went there on noon and got the new card by two o\'clock something. I think you can call the local office in advance to make sure it\'s OK for a visit.
