What is the difference between I-797 and I797C notice?

Hi,
I got mail from USCIS ON 03/21/05 that my I-485 was approved. After that on 03/25/05 got hard copy I-797 notice in post with a notice date 03/21/05.
Now yesterday I got another letter I797C with notice date 03/24/05 for approval
My question is

What is the difference between I-797 and I797C notice?
Does these notice dates make any difference in future (one with 03/21/05 and other with 03/24/05)

i had the same situation, i used I-797 (not I-797C) to get my passport stamped then I received my I797C, i think the notice date dose not make any sence.
the approval date will be the starting time for citizenship application in future.
probably I797 is for your laywer (if you have), I797C is a copy for you.

Thanks for the reply, I have one more question, while stamping do we have to give this I-797 to the local office? and will we get it back or do they keep it ?

I-797 will be collected by immigration officer at the moment of stamping,
you can make a copy at your home or you can keep I-797C. In future you only
need the stamping on passport for entrance of border ...
