What is the difference between case waiting to be picked up and not assigned?

Is after assignment, case waits to be picked up
manually by the officer?

Not assigned (staging area) --->Assigned to officer--->wait to pick up by officer--->picked up by officer--->under review of officer---->Approved by the officer

Any clarifications on the sequence?

Sorry U Kumar I am nt going to be much help..
Butwhat difference does it make. For them everything is the same anywayz you can't make any sense out of what the IIO says why bother.
My guess would be not been assigned yet means it is in the staging area. So it could take ayear from now before it reaches someone. tooodle do do....
Not been picked up yet means it's been assigned to the old fart who is going to work on your case unfortunately he isn't finished with his coffee and donut yet to get to your case. so toodle do do.. some more.

U Kumar,

DIfference is your interpretation of what's happening inside a black box.

To me, it doesn't count. All I care for is the output.

Pending review : Your "documets" go into a "SLEEP MODE" till the dates moves(to your respective RD) with the officer in a "WAIT MODE".

Under review : The "officer" goes into a "SLEEP MODE" with your documents sitting in a "WAIT MODE" on his table

Pls look at the official document...

Someone posted an official document (well, it certainly looks authentic) pertaining to the procedures involved in adjudicating I1485 yesterday. Please take a look at it. You may find answers to most of your questions in there.
