What is LUD?

I see several posts saying that they have cleared FBI Namechecks etc. How do you guys find this out? The BCIS customer service does not divulge that information or any other information regarding security checks, nor can one see it on the online status. Also my online status simply says "In 4/2005 the results of your finger prints were received and further processing has resumed" etc. There are no other data. What does LUD stand for? Sorry asking these naive questions.

I am EB2, with a priority date for India which becomes current in March 2006. My I-485 was filed in 01/2004 with CSC, the I-140 was approved in 10/2004.

You are on your way to approval say in April 06 or May ,since they rec your FP result then they will work on your case once your PD becomes Current in March, also check with CSC and she see what date they are processing at the moment, they you will have a better idea as to when you should expect an approval , just checked on CSC USCIS and they are working on June 2005 which means they already worked on your case and waiting for your PD to becomes current , at this moment there can't approve your case because your PD is not current.

...on the condition that his NC is cleared

... but how to find if name check is cleared or not?

Yes, that was my question ... how does one find out whether the name check is cleared or pending? If it is not cleared, there is no point in expecting my i-485 approval even after my priority date becomes current in March. May be I could do something like contacting the area senator etc.

LUD stands for "Last Updated Date". It can be trigger by anything happened at USCIS (internal review, address change, FP received, etc., etc.). You can't use LUD to judge whether or not your NC is cleared. To know that, you have to find a way to talk to a nice USCIS officer somewhere out there.

Good luck.

Another one stuck in name check!

After trying with the USCIS customer service several times, and opening an inquiry and going nowhere, finally I took an infopass appointment in San Jose, CA to find out if my background (name check) check is cleared. Bad news! It's still pending .... . the officer said "... since september ..." and added that she had seen this taking anywhere from 6 months to 3 years. So even if my priority date becomes current this March 1, I can not expect my I-485 approval anytime soon. Should have gone the consular processing route!!

I have begun attempts to contact fbi using various postings on this site. Have sent letters to senators for assistance etc. So let a new ordeal begin, as if i haven't already had enough! :(

I-140 date: 10/2003
I-485 receipt date: 1/23/2004
Priority date: 10/2001
I-140 approval: 6/2004
