Not exactly.. When you call your financial institution, do you think the person who answers the phone is the same one who transfers your funds or caches your checks? Or, better yet, when you call a prospective employer, do you think it's the receptionist who makes the ultimate decision on whether or not to hire you? (Granted, sometimes office assistants wield real power in the office politics.. Not always, though).
IIO's simply answer phone calls.. That's what the middles "I" stands for -- "information". Think "customer support". Cases are processed by adjudicators. Whether or not adjudicators double as IIO's or vice versa depending on the workload remains to be seen.. Generally speaking though, IIO's just answer myriads of repetitious phone inquiries. Give them some credit -- they deserve it.
