What is Biometrics?

Biometrics Notice != I485 approval

Yes U need to wait for the letter ...which orders U to take Biometrics...

Good luck and congrats

My wife and I got ASC notice today, biometrics, code 3. However, our name check has not been cleared and we are from retro country.

Thanks Nadi, Potter for your reply..

My question is bit different.
Normally after getting approval from NSC we go for Biometrics.
My case was transfered so after interview, I was approved and Stamped.
IIO took Photos, Signature and Print of Right Index finger.

What is left now?
What exactly they mean by Biometrics?

Thanks

Update for you guys:

I got reply from my lawyer. He wrote that
My case was filed under the old procedure, so I shouldn't need to do anything more. Cases filed under the new procedure are scheduled for biometrics.
I should still appear for interview if I am, by chance, scheduled for biometrics, to avoid any confusion .

Did you received your plastic G card? if not, they might need you to go for code 2 Biometrics, this is the process by which they made cards in these days. It's fast and efficient process to have the plastic GC. If you receive the notice for Biomet, just follow them you will be much better off.

No I didn't receive Plastic GC.
What is Code 2?
I have given my photos, index finger print and signature on 09/22/05.
Ofcourse I will go if I receive notice for that.
But wanted to know what was code 2, code 3.

Code 2: digital photograph taken by the Local Biomet office, index finger printing and a signature on LCD screen.
Code3: All ten fingers printing + code 2

Thanks mozaffar421
At least now I got answer of my question.

Anyway when IIO approved me he got my signature on one paper card not on LCD screen and took my photographs which I brought.
So it means they are changing procedure.
Thanks again.

I think Ur lawyer is wrong... he is not in touch with latest procedures at USCIS.

May be you are right...
But he also knew USCIS very well so he told me that
I should still appear for interview if I am, by chance, scheduled for biometrics, to avoid any confusion .
Let us wait..
Thanks

Yesterday I got "Welcome Notice" Letter.
After my approval http://boards.immigration.com/showthread.php?t=143065&page=14&pp=15

It says
Receipt Date is June 1, 2005 and Notice Date is Sep 30,2005.
I was approved on 22nd Sep'05.
Don't know What this Receipt Date is?
It has been given a different LIN # also.
and Case Type is I181.

It also says I will receive my cards in 3 weeks.
If so that is really great.

I think it means no Biometrics is required.

Any Input Gurus?

Received Plastic cards

On 10/14/2005 I received my plastic cards and also one more welcome letter... same matter with diff date.
(USCIS is really efficient once you are approved :) )
It was pretty fast.
Also it means if transfer cases are approved and stamped, there is no need for Biometrics.

Anyway dear friends this journey is over.
Thanks a lot for all your help and Special Thanks to Mr. Rajiv to provide us a platform to share all worries.

Good Luck friends..
