What is "A number" to fill in G-325A form?

At the bottom of the G-325 form (biographic information), there is a black-boxed area which requires full name and "A number". It seems very important to fill in. But what is "A number"? Is that the same as I-94#? If I do not have one, can I fill in I-94#? Thanks

----------A= Alien Number.

----------No

----------No

Alien Number or A# is assigned by USCIS if you have A# in the Past then only you need to write it. I-94 is not A#. If you don’t have A# don’t write anything. You will get your A# on I-485 filing receipt and in future you need to fill that A# on future forms.

If you have previously submitted an I-140 petition, you should have an A#. It will be on your I-140 receipt notice (as well as your approval notice if you have that) right above your name in the "Applicant" cell. If you haven't submitted an I-140 before and are filing concurrently, then just type "None".
