I got my green card in november 2010

I left usa to finish unfinished business overseas and came back to usa in June 1st 2011

the custom was asking a lot of questions about why I have stayed so long overseas.

Is this normal or did I just met a bad day custom officer/ immigration officer.

Sounds like you stayed over 6 months if you left in Nov, 2010, this will happen again if you stay over or at this point even less than 6 months if you do it again.
They probably have made some notes under your A-number and repeated long term absences may provoke a more serious action.
Get a Re-entry permit to avoid being hassled next time.
Do not lie and make up a reason, just tell them the truth and explain that you have no intentions of abandoning your US residency.
