What do you mean by 'original copy'? You either have the original or a copy of the original. Everyone gets only one birth-certificate and they get to keep it. The officer will make copies if needed.

As for your list, the only original document that are retained by the officer during the interview could be

1. photos
2. new I-864/I-693
3. Any affidavits that support your case

Rest of the documents, they make a copy for their records. Other who have attended the interview pls comment.

sorry....about the confusion about orignal copy...should have just been original document or something... :) ...thanks for the answer ...atleast I know I wont have to depart with any of the originals that belong to me.....

Re:

They may ask you to give up all or some of your documents. So bring it all, you are there to prove the authenticity of your marriage. I end up giving all of my copies to prove and it was approved.

So you gave up all your "copies" and not all originals then? If yes then what were the original documents that they kept? For example, do they keep the original birth certificate, marriage certificates, etc? I am going to take originals and copies of everything but I wanted to know which ORIGINALS I am not likely to get back. I know that the EAD card and some of the USCIS correspondence (originals) they will keep. But what about originals where you dont have originals in duplicate? If they choose for example to keep your only original birth certificate, then what do you do?

Oh boy. Take a deep breath and now relax. You get to keep your original birth/marriage certificate and whoever needs it takes a copy. Whatever gave you the imrpession that you have to part with your original birth certificate?

If approved, you may have to surrender original EAD/AP/I-94 if asked during the interview. Besides that, you will only have to part with your copies. Hope this helps.

ari4u..you most certainly can read the little anxieties I have on my mind...:).....thanks once again for clarifying that for me...
