My fiance has an interview set for next Thursday for his B2 (visitor) application. He is an Egyptian citizen. Here is his/our story:
I have been living in Egypt for a little over a year now. I'm a dual citizen (as my father is Egyptian). I have visted once, studied abroad for a year in 2006, and returned in the summer of 2008 where I am now working full time. This is also where I met my fiance.
He is 29 years old, as the culture demands he still lives with his Mom and Dad, he does have his own apartment but not in his name. He has a bank account here and a car in his name. He works as an engineer in a reputable construction company. He has been employed with our company for a little over a year.
We got engaged over the summer when my father visited. In August we filed for our K1 fiance visa and the expected completion date is May 2010. In the meantime, I am home sick and found a really nice deal home for Christmas break - two weeks from Dec. 22 to Jan. 4th. I want him to accompany me home so he can see life in America (and ease his worried about moving there once our K1 petition is approved) as well as meet my family and friends before we actually get married on the K1 visa. So, for this reason, we're apply for a visitor's visa, with honest intentions of both returning back to Cairo after a 2 week visit home for the holidays, and returning back to our jobs.
I feel that they're going to doubt our intentions. He is a young, Egyptian male, with an American fiance....and a pending K1 petition.
What do you think our chances are and what information can we provide. So far, he will be including the following information:
-Proof that he owns a car here
-Bank account information
-Vacation request from his job for the intended period of travel
-Copy of my US passport (per their request)
-The appropriate visa application forms (and on one it says that I prepared the form for him - we did this because it asks for my address and I included my address in Egypt)
-The orbitz travel itenirary for the flights we want to purchase - roundtrip of course, with price total
-Detailed itenirary for our exact plans while in the US (daily log of what we plan on doing, where we plan on going, and who we plan on visiting), as well as elaborate contact information for my parents (provided 5 telephone numbers for them, one for me, place of employment for parents and address - this is also the place we will be staying). I also included my US cell phone number which was never deactivated when I came to Egypt and the contact information of my grandparents who we will be visiting frequently.
-Signed statements from both me and him on our intent to return from the US after a short visit for the holidays and wait out the duration of the K1 visa
Then I thought about adding the following
-My vacation request showing same intended travel dates
-My bank account information for my Egyptian bank account
-Rent receipts for the past year (unfortunately the contract ends at the end of this month, I am renewing it but his appointment will come before the landlord comes with a renewed contract)
Sorry this was long! What do you think? I'm worried sick!! I want to visit home but I won't do it without him. Why? Financially speaking, the trip will only be worth it if he is with me because he will gain lots of valuable insight into the culture he will be moving into after the K1 visa is approved (he's constantly worried about the change), and the opportunity to meet my parents. If he can't go, I won't go in order to save the money for when we do return to the US... because I will be in law school and money will be tiiiight.
