What if VB gets current in Aug and September?

Hi,

I'm from Sri Lanka and my CN is AS00015xxx. Do you guys think my number is in safe range with the current situation? Im really dissapointed about VB. Please help

Yes, you are still in safe range as of now. Your interview might be on July to Sept. It depends on how fast it will progress in the 2nd half of the year.

Even though KCC accelerate the number of interview per month (for Asia) , i don't think there will be a problem of capability.. Because in DV 2012 the num of CN they have interviewed (per month) from Oct 11 to May 12 respectively 8000,2000,5000,3500,5400,3100,5600,7900 ..... It says Asian embassies can bare such num of interviews per month.

What you need to remember is that a number (range) of CNs is not equal to
the number of selected people. First off all you have holes between CNc and also in 2012 a lot of people had not returned their forms because they weren't aware that they've won. So it would be really difficult to estimate consular capacity based on 2012.

wow even Asian CN 9k is worried about getting an interview, what would some people like me has CN 21*** be imagining of getting it? only faith.

Do not lose hope now, let wait for 3 more months and see how it progress. Still have 6 months down the road.

You just said it. Well done.

I wished those who do not really keen on getting green card please do not apply and that will give their chances to those who are really keen of getting green card even their case # is high. If this wish come true then all regions will be current.

Those who do not really want green cards are highly unlikely to follow through with the expense and schlep of the application. I guess this is why there is a large percentage of winners who do not in fact follow up once they have been selected.

Is a Green Card other than the visa? Please kindly explain it.

A Green card identifies the holder as a lawful permanent resident (LPR) and therefore is not a temporary visa. That means the person has almost identical rights and obligations to a US citizen. The rights part includes travelling in an out of the coutry although you may have to show that you are maintaining a home in the USA. The obligations part includes things like filing and paying taxes every year on income earned anywhere in the world.

Do not go through the process if you are planning to use it as some kind of super visa to go in and out of the USA - if that is you plan there are better ways to do it.

Just to add: if you are successful at your DV interview you will get an immigrant visa. Once you enter the US with that you will become an LPR as simon described. There is a very small chance you may be refused entry with an immigrant visa but unless you have lied about a criminal record that is highly unlikely.

Thanks for providing this good info.
You mean there is no need of applying for green card. The benifit of having a green card is only the traveling flexibility?

Thanks for adding. Does it cost to apply for the Green card?
