What happens if one applies for EAD renewal and I-485 is approved before I-765 renewal. Does USCIS refund the money back.

My EAD expires April 10. whats the best time to apply for renewal

Apply in the middle of Feb. Going by current trends you should get your EAD approved before the older one expires.

If you are not using AC-21 to work and still have a valid H1. You could even wait longer and just apply around Mar 20 or so.

It is denied

Users on this forum have said that in such situations, their EAD renewals get denied (since 485 is approved) - that is like a donation to USCIS.

You can apply 6 months in advance of expiry of EAD, but some users who got approved in a week or two found that the validity overlaps, leading to lost months.

Suggest you apply at least over 90 days in advance in case it does not get processed in time, you can get an iEAD at least.

Getting refund from USCIS.. You got to be kidding.. Its like feeding a Banana/Sugarcane to an elephant(Have you ever heard of taking a Banana/Sugarcane out of an elephant's mouth after feeding.. same would be your case if you have already sent a check and if your 485 gets approved)...

Hope the example would give you a crystal clear picture.

Good Luck
