What happens to folks who have already been interviewed due to Retrogressing back 98!

Hi All,
We do know that many went through interview process at Newark and other service centers across US.. Due to this retrogress process what happens to those who have a PD AFTER to January 1, 1998. So, do they need to wait for atleast 2 - 3 years to get their physical cards even after completing the interview successfully?

Any comments/thoughts???

Good question! Let me throw in another one. What happens to those whose interviews are scheduled but visa # have retrogressed by several years? Is USCIS going to continue wasting their time with interviews and then refuse to stamp their PP for unavailability of visa #? Or are they going tp cancel all those interviews?

Hi, I'm afraid we're all screwed. Our interview went fine but wasn't stamped b/c of unavailability of visa #'s and see what has happened!!! this f****** retrogression!!! cases are not APPROVED until we get either the approval notice or the plastic card. Officially our cases are still PENDING.
 
retrogression, interview & changing employer

With retrogression that might be very slow and even take years, how will changing employers will affect already attended interviews?

I have attended local interview and have submitted AC21 papers with new employer documents. Given finger prints and now USCIS is just waiting on visa numbers to approve my case.

What if I want to change the employer again? Or
If I'm fired?

Where will I stand? What is the status of my I-485? Should I have to file AC21 again? Too many questions.

Either they should've waited till visa numbers are available to conduct interviews, or give visa numbers to those who already attended interviews. Or give some additional light on changing employers/layoffs in the meantime.

I'm sure they are many who attended interviews and waiting for visa numbers.

You are correct. I did talk to few experienced folks in this forum and they said that it might be around June/July 2006 we would start getting our GCards directly by mail as there wouldnt be many waiting between 98 to 2000 and once they finish the backlog, they would first send cards to folks who have already been interviewed.

Just my 2 cents. Its frustrating to know that when we attended interviews we were current and hence we were called for interviews, and the officer also told that you wouldnt have anymore interviews and you would get physical card by mail. When they know that our file is closed and we just need to wait until visa numbers are available.. what a fate!

Guys, not sure about jun/jul 06, especially after this shocking retrogression situation, but my attorney also said the chance for us getting re-interviewed is pretty slim and we just have to wait (they might ask for the recent paystubs, tax returns etc though). Going to local INS with infopass this Fri so will post if i hear anything different.

What about this one.
I was interviewed exactly a year back and was told something like " waiting for back ground checks "
My Visa number was available to the officer at that time... is my assumption.
I do not know if my name check has been completed as FBI has stopped replying to emails now.
I contacted the local office in january last year and was basically to told to shut up ( politely though ) as my case was under review. "what review " I had a 30 minute interview in which I satisfied the officer.They said please do not contact us for another six months.
I basically have given up.
I guess they are just waiting for my name check results unless the officer has something else up his sleeve.
What about my case ...Am i affected or many like me affected by retrogression...........all inputs welcome
