What happens now?

INS website states the following:

EAD (I765) - "after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Processing normally takes between 60 and 90 days. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."

Does this mean that I have to wait for 60-90 days to receive the card? Can I apply for SSN for my wife only after we receive the card?
 
I don't think so

I think you wil get the card in a week or two.
You need to show the EAD card to get the SSN.
 
Do I inform the company as well?

Is there any need to inform the company once EAD arrives? Is there any change in the status?
 
I got my card within one week.

If you are planning on using the EAD (for second job or because your H1 is expired) then you have to tell your employer and they have to change your status in their company HR records. If you just got your EAD simply to have it to fall back on (in case of lay off) but your H1 is still valid then you would remain on H1 status (assuming you work only for your sponsoring company).
