I'm having second thoughts about citizenship at the moment, as I originally applied it because of parents may want to immigrate. Now, the situation changed a bit. It'll be more convenient for me to remain gc holder.

However, my N400 was sent a year ago. I recently called USCIS and learned that my background check went through, and I shall be getting an interview letter any time within the next 3 months. So, I wonder what happens if I reschedule the iv, I remember seeing somewhere that rescheduling is not recommended as it may significantly delay the process.

Any thoughts?

Getting USC doesn't change anything much really and in fact is pref to GC. The only downside seems to me that a USC has to report income to IRS each yr and may have to pay taxes if income is very high even while living abroad. If at all possible you should get USC and then continue with your life.

Also an applicant can postpone the IV or even withdraw the n400 if they wish to do so.

If you don't want to continue with the natz process, you can withdraw your application at any time by simply writing to USCIS.

Rescheduling an interview will generally buy you a month or two, maybe a little more. The duration of the delay is largely DO dependent.

This is incorrect. The US taxes worldwide income of both its citizens and permanent residents. If you work abroad as a GC holder (e.g., temporarily for a US company), you're supposed to file on Form 1040 as a resident.

I assume OP has some reason that makes it more advantageous to retain his/her original passport (not some reason that makes having a GC better than having US citizenship).

Couldn't you just not show up for the interview? I am guessing that after 1 year, your application will be deemed withdrawn W/O prejudice.

Will it have any negative impact in the future applying again for naturalization if you do not show for interview and be denid, pospond or simply withrow the application?

Probably not, but its better manners to write to USCIS and formally withdraw the application. That way the IO doesn't have to waste their time reviewing your application and wait for you to turn up to interview.
