what does this msg mean?

Does this message say that they've begun working on my case? Dates shown online in the "last updated" column are DIFFERENT from what I see on my receipts. I did sign up for automatic updates from USCIS, but haven't gotten any email about change in my case status. Please someone tell me what's going on. Thanks.

Note on "Last Updated" date: Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

Bascally it means that everytime they touch the account they update that date online but if no new things have changed in your case the message itself wont change. It just means that your case(s) have been touched

(The dates dont always change when they touch your case either, at least in my case)

You will receive an email ONLY when the Case Status Message changes.

They still work on your case and your LUD (last update date) changes, but the message stays the same, hence no email.

Example: I-765

You sign up, at it shows:

LUD 01/01/2007 Status: Application Received and Pending

LUD 01/30/2007 Status: Application Received and Pending (the LUD changes, they are doing something, but you get no email)

LUD 02/10/2007 Status: Card Production Ordered (they did something again, LUD and status changed you got an email)

LUD 02/15/2007 Status: Card Production Ordered (they did something else, who knows what, LUD changed but status message did not, so no email)

LUD 03/01/2007 Status: Approval Notice Sent (they finished the case and sent your card, LUD and Status Message changed, so you get an email).

I get an email only when my status changes online, right? How often do dates in "last updated" column change? Both the dates were changed in june and aug(both cases). Are they actively working on my case? Thanks.,

That's an awesome explanation. Thanks a lot.

It is very hard to predict, we can't tell how fast they are working unless you have a detailed timeline in your signature... but even then, just wait for the emails... that is when important things happen. Try not to check the online status website 10 times a day. :)

Praetorian, thanks for all your prompt responses. Based on my timeline below, will you be able to estimate when mine will be done? I am impatiently waiting to see my hubby again. :p

06/01/07: Package mailed to CSC
06/15/07: case entered in USCIS TS
07/21/07: got receipt for I-130
07/22/07: I129-f mailed
08/22/07: got K3 receipt

Thanks again.
