What does this mean?

Guys,

I was told this by the IIO, can you tell me what does this means:

"Your "A-File” and your “Temporary-File” are being consolidated at the B.C.I.S, Once the files are consolidated, they will be returned to the B.C.I.S. Adjudications Officer"

This is the fact that way back in Jan-03 I was told that my case was with an officer and I was told this by atleast 3 different IIO's when Vermont was functional, I do know one thing as my company was acquired I had filed for I-140 amendment which was approved and my I-485 was filed with the previous I-140, does this temporary file means the amended I-140 application.

Any insights will be greatly appreciated, I am getting tired with this overall GC experience, can't wait any longer.

NOTHING so far!!!!

which number you called?

Well, you have two Alient numbers, if they found you have two numbers, they will send your case to some consolidation dept to resolve it, that takes long time.

How can you have 2 alien numbers????, I mean what I see is that the alien number mentioned on my EAD card is same as the number mentioned on the 485 receipt?

I had a similar problem (I think)

The IIO told me that my Perm A-File was archived and that the officer had requested for it. Apparently they cannot decide cases based on the temp file. The IIO even told me the date it was shipped and told me that it takes 2-3 weeks for the IIO to receive it. I got my approval about 20 days after the shipping date.

The national 800-number IIO tell you about the A file thing? I thought they just sent you a letter in 4 weeks.

Who knows why you have two A numbers. I checked my old EAD card (practice training) number is different from new EAD card(from 485). Maybe that means two numbers. Who knows. BCIS or INS, whatever, they are just total mess.

me too...

The A# on my old pratical training EAD card is different from my existing EAD card too. I thought this was always the case. Did anybody on this board have these two numbers the same?

I think A # number will remain same. I know this because for us 2 separate GC petitions are filed one by employer and other by wife's employer.

Maybe for PT and employment based GC they are separate. Not sure.
