What does this mean?

My brother applied for 485 and EAD based on marriage back in August. On INS online status just until a few days ago he was getting a message that was saying that "we mailed you a fingerpriting notice ..." but now the message has changed and it says this

"On October 28, 2002, we transferred your I485 APPLICATION TO ADJUST TO PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS to another INS office for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. That office will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case."

What does this means guys?
 
It means what it says.

Ur bro's file has been trans to local office for interview.INS wants to clarify some doubts etc. Don't worry it is normal and I am sure he will get approved at the interview. U will have to find out how long itwill take for the iterview date. Which local INS office is it transferred to?
BTW was the 485 filed in Aug'02 or Aug'01?
 
Thanks for the info guys. My bro filed in Aug 02 he is in Maryland. Does anyone knows what questions they will ask? Does his wife need to go with him?

Guys, Aug'02 RD and already called for interview. A record for INS.
 
In this interview they are going see if the marriage is fake,just for
GC or a genunine marriage.

They ask you personal questions to both the wife and supposedly husband and see how it matches.

They look at marriage pic.
Bank Account (Joint)
Car Ins. (Joint)
tax returns together
some marriage witnesses
If have kids the kid's birth cert.

and if they get satisfied they give you a 2 year valid green card
and when you go to renew after 2 years they might schedule another interview or just grant a 10 year GC.

If they determine the case is fake on some count they immideately give the guy deportation notice and the citizen wife criminal proceedings with charge of INS Fraud.

It's marriage to an American Citizen, it's much faster then our screwed up EB applications.

I thought this was purely EB case ... Yes, marriage based will be faster than EB based. I am already happily married with a kid, no plans of divorce etc .. so that option is ruled out :D :D :D
