what does the second part mean in EAC-02-038-xxxxx ???

my RD is 9/17/2001 and it is EAC-02-038-xxxxx
Please share if anybody knows what it means?

i see most of the filers before july have it as 01

EAC numbers

EAC number is assigned based on your notice date. Notice date is when your case information is entered into INS computer.

xx-yyy-5zzzz

xx - is the year. So it is 02 now. INS year starts in October.
yyy - is number of working days from October 1.
5 - Don\'t know why but this number is always there.
zzzz - This is the number of case received on that day.

YY-Year. At present it is 02
NNN-By seeing so many cases it seems some batch # issued based on RD. Because I have seen big difference for two cases files at CSC and VSC even RD &ND for both of the applicant was the same. It cant be possible for both of centers to have different number of working days even dates are the same. Any way it is something that tells about ur RD. INS uses it instead of RD becuase dealing with numbers are easier.

      - 511 - Dependent/Spouse etc
