What does "Processing" mean?

When USCIS says now "processing (N400) cases with receipt notice date...", what does "processing" mean?

Does it mean they're notifying people with those receipt dates of their interview? Or are they actually interviewing people with those receipt dates?

Thanks!

I think this means interview, at least that what I was told by a USCIS supervisor in Los Angeles DO...

Processing for USCIS means the time they receive your application to the time of interview, oath. Your case can be anywhere during this process. So no one knows what they mean for one online case status does not change after receiving fingerpring and interview letters. Online status only says application is receive and it is in process
