What does PD being current mean ??

No Title

The DOS Visa bulletin for each month contains the Visa Cut-off dates for each Employment and Family based category for different countries. Let us take the case of a candidiate X from India, EB3, PD June 12, 1999, I-140 Approved December 6, 2000. X can apply for I-485 only if the Visa cut-off date for EB3 India is June 12, 1999 or later than that (this situation when it occurs is what people term \'PD is current\'). So, if the Visa cut-off date for EB3 India for any month is the same as or later than June 12, 1999, then X says that his/her \'PD is current\'. Hope this helps.

You can apply for I-485 status change only if your PD is current. Also, if you have already filed for I-485, then your Green card will not be approved until your PD is current.

m_il,

All priority dates for all countries and categories are current as of this month\'s Visa bulletien. Looking at your PD dates, you may have already applied for your adjustment of status (I485) but you could check with your lawyer.

good luck!

Let me try this.
PD is Priority Date. Until your Priority Date becomes current you cannot file your I485. But the magic end there. It does not guarantee that the I485 applications will be processed in PD order.

INS strictly enforces the PD for purposes of filing I485.
But once you file your I485, INS will not guarantee ( and I think for a very closely guarded reason ) that it will process the I485 in strict order of PD or ND or any known order. The only order in which INS processes I485 ( and known to 21st century mankind ) is Random order.
There are still lot of us whose PD is in 1996. However, just as comfortably as INS alows our cases to collect dust, moss, mildew and other various forms of low life forms, INS will very casually, and without remorse and hesitation process some I485 with PD of 2000 or if possible maybe even 2001.
Maybe INS should start a anticipatory I485 approval for guys who are yet to even start their GC process. That way they can even boast of a negative average processing time for I485 applications.

Hope99,

Thank you!
I have already applied for I-485.AVM says that my case "cannot be found at this time".What does that mean?Does that mean that they lost my case?I hope it doesn\'t.
Good luck to you too!
