What does FBI do with fingerprints before sending to USCIS?

What does FBI do with the FPs before they are sent over to the INS? Do they check in some database or something like that and add comments if the candidate has a criminal history? And if the candidate does, does it take time for FBI to send the FP over to USCIS.

The reason I ask this is that I have had a DWI and when I called the FBI, they said that my FP were transferred the same day to the USCIS. Does it mean that my records my DWI record may NOT be in their database? Or is that too farfetched a conclusino?

Comments/analysis would be appreicated.

Thanks,

Santosh

Same day does not mean that they do not have your finger prints. It means that they received your fingerprints, did a database search and sent the relevant information to the USCIS. If you had FP done at the time of DUI then it will most probably be with FBI. FBI does not tell you the results of the FP request sent by USCIS. What happens after the USCIS receives the results- I don't know but i guess they will make a decison based on the information you provided in your application and the FBI report. THey just want to check that you are not involved in serious deportable crime etc etc. Wait for the experts on this forum to comment.

In my case, I had a pending charge in Court at the time I was F/Ped for CZ. F/P results including my arrest info was sent to USCIS by FBI, the same day I was F/Ped at ASC - I know this, because within a couple of weeks after F/P, I got a letter from USCIS that they got info from FBI that they have a arrest record on me and I should bring the relevant arrest report, court papers etc for my CZ interview.
