Hi Tom3917:
I submitted the usual (photos, GC copy, $400) along with a copy of my reentry permit, copy of my selective service registration, tax return copies for 2002, 2003, 2004 (will haul 2005 with me to the interview). Probably overkill, but who cares.
For the interview on June 20th, I will bring along all the things mentioned above, plus:
- birth certificate (for myself and my wife...neither GC nor application based on marriage to a U.S. citizen)
- M.A. degree from Germany (to back up the claim while I had a reentry permit and was gone for all of 2001)
- documentation for the one minor moving violation (failure to obey highway sign) that I got and did not list on my N-400
- marriage certificate
- my current work contract
...that is pretty much it. I do not think I will need any of that stuff during the interview (besides GC, passport), but I would rather be too prepared than being told to come back at a later time for some stupid document. Well, with USCIS, you never know what kind of stunt they pull. So who knows, maybe I have to come back to show them my high school diploma or something ;-).
I would not worry about it too much. If you do not have any serious issues on your application (DUIs, fellonies..that sort of stuff), you will be fine.
Cheers!
