Guys,
my 485 approved. Please tell me what's the procedure after approved. What doc's need for stamping.? Please let me know the details. Or please give me the link regarding after 485 approval process. Thanks alot

1. Make appointment at local office for Passport stamping through infopass
http://infopass.uscis.gov/

2. Get 2 passport size photos (front facing) for all applicants

3. Reach 15 minutes before appointment. Show Govt issued photo id like driver's license for entry into building.

4. Documents to be presented: Courtesy copy of approval, 2 passport photos, all EADs, all APs, Passport with I-94 - for all applicants.

5. If you can, pay a visit to local SSA office to re-apply for updated SS cards w/o the "valid for work with INS authorization" text.

Hope this helps.

nkaveti,

Is the update on the SSN card necessary? I mean it would be nice to not have a restrictive text written on it but who looks at those cards really?

fhgc,
Some employers do want to look at your social security card before giving employment. It may not matter to someone who was on H1 and turned permanent resident.

But, if you have been on a dependant visa and the original SSN was issued as 'Not authorized for work', I think it matters once they start working and their wages are reported to IRS.

For whatever it's worth, it is always a good thing to keep records straight.

Hi

I was going to make appointment using info pass, however my friends wife said that we should go to the office that is mentioned in the approval letter and that is not the regular INS Office at DOWNTOWN LA that I know of, she says some other officer. So... what should I do?

girishreknar,
When you schedule an appointment using infopass, the confirmation receipt that you will print out at the end gives you the time, date and location of the actual office. You should then be able to get directions using yahoo maps or mapquest.

The address that comes on the approval notice is usually the right one unless the USCIS office moved to another location just recently. It helps to actually post in the forum (as a main thread) to seek experience of other LA residents who have already done their PP stamping.

Good luck.
