what do you think of passport card?

I was planning to apply for passport card, but since i have a usa passport, I don't think it is worth my effort! what is the benefit of having one?

any suggestion welcome.

The advantages that I see are:
1. No need to carry the passport book if you travel frequently by land or sea between the USA and Canada, Mexico, Carribean and Bermuda
2. By keeping the passport card separate from the passport book, you have a backup, in case you lose one
3. If you live near the Mexico border, look Hispanic, and are subject to frequent DHS checks, it could come in handy if you have it in your wallet
4. If you live near the Canada border and suddenly have the crave for some Tim Hortons donuts and coffee or some French Canadian food or get a better view of the Niagara Falls, and want to drive across, you could use the card.

Other than that I cant think of any other benefits.

Yah, it's definitely a way to carry proof of citizenship at all times. But, you are not required to do so.
