What do I need to include my wife in Asylum.

I'm filing for asylum. I'm almost done with all the paperwork. I'm an international student and I'm married, so I've included my wife in the original I-589 form. In I-589 instruction it says that
"An additional copy of your completed application, form I-589, with supplementary statements, for each family member listed in Part A.II. whom you want to have included in your application."
Does it mean that my wife has to complete I-589. What actually is supplementary statements?
Please explain in detail. any kind of help will be appreciated.
 
That means that IF your wife is an alien AND in the U.S. is she a derivative asylee applicant in this case? If she is abroad and IF you get asylum you can file an I-730 for her within 2 years AFTER you get granted asylum.

Many students apply for asylum and get denied, so IF you have a SOLID BASIS for a claim, good luck.
