What can happen if name in SSN is wrong?

Hi,

I think, a part of my first name will get missed out in SSN. [This is because the part got missed out in I 94 records at port of entry. I am trying my best to correct it, but I am really not sure if that would happen.]

My name in all other records (like passport, H1 Visa documents ) are perfect. What can happen if a part of the first name gets missed out only in SSN? What all the issues I might have to face?

ssn name correction

dont worry about it. i had a typo in my last name in my ssn card when i was
going to start my masters and had just come on F1. i went back to the SSA
office and told them my name was in error and took other documentation
like my passport, my transcripts from my home country bachelors degree,
drivers licences etc. they simply re-issued me a new one with the same number
and it arrived in the mail a week later.

hope that helps.

PS: i am not aware of what problems you could face with a misprint. but i shudder
to think along those lines in a foreign country. My advice is take care of it as soon
as you are able to. good luck.

But my problem is that I cannot correct it currently. This is because - My I 94 is not right. All other documents are perfect.

I too went to SSN office, but they are insisting that my I 94 should be correct.

ssn misprint

sorry to hear that. my i-94 was in order and i also had
a letter from my school advisor and had copies of my I20s
etc. so it was an apparent typo in my case which they corrected
promptly.
