What are the conditions to apply for emergency AP?

My AP is expiring end of november.
My lawyer is applying now for renewal (I know I am late)
Approval times now are 4-5 months.
I might get renewal by january/February.
I need to fly out US in december.

So, I wonna know what I can say to get an emergency AP for me and my wife.

I do not think I can say tell BCIS that I need an emergency AP just because they are late in processing, right?

I;m not sure there can be any emergency, unless it is medical related. Only that could be a sureshot approval - or may be not if we go by another thread today by caldude on a Ap appln at SJ

the last time i read in this forum somewhere is that an emergency means
"death in the family" and that it takes a week to get the "advance parole".Try searching or wait for some who has found it somewhere.
