Dear Sir/Madam:
I would like to know if I am eligible for immigration to America. I came
to America in 1989 on student visa and applied for assylum in 1991. In
October 2001 I received letter from appeal board of immigration that my
application has been denied for 1) suspensation of deportation 2)
application for assylum and 3) Voluntary departure.
On November 23 I married to a US citizen not for green card it was love
marriage and I can prove that it was not for citizenship purpose. On
novemver 23,2001 I left USA and moved to canada. But I never received
any letter from immigration specify my deportation proceeding. My lawer
explained me that your appeal has been denied and you are under
deportation proceeding. Either you can leave the country on your own
expense or state\'s expenses. I decided to leave the country my own.
Now I am wondering, if I could apply for I-212 form and immigrate back
to America? Would you please let me know about the bar as well on my
immigration back to America. I was told that INS has placed five years
bar on you because I denied volunteer departure plus they put additional
five year bar because I lost me assylum case. This is called over stay.
I was wondering, if you could help me about my chances back to America?
Thank You
