Hello,

I was wondering if anoyone had similar experience.
We have passed intervew and had stamp in a passport.
Few days later we received Welcome letter and also another letter I-797C
Notice of Action which says:
"After review, we have reopened the above application or petition, or
reconsidered the decision previously issued. You will receive a notice under separate cover once all action has been completed."
Both Welcome letter and that Notice of Action came at the same day, our lawyer thinks there could've been a problem with our case and it got reopen.

I think it merely reflects that I-485 status has been set to "Open" when we had an interview, which triggered the above Notice of Action, then approved which triggered Welcome letter.

Anyone had similat sets of letter with their Welcome letter?

Thanks a lot!
Ann

Hi Ann,

I've got the same thing yesterday. They all came in at once, the welcome letter and the I-797C. I'm confused as well, but I think the I-797C was triggered because the interview did not have our FBI clearance at the time. When the clearance came, they sent the approval out on the same day. I see that you posted in may, I'm curious if you have gotten your green card in the mail yet?

Hi,

at the end it was Immigration officer's mistake, my name check has not been cleared yet. I had to go back to INS and they revoked stamp and gave me back EAD and AP. I'm still waiting for FBI name check clearance at this point...

Ah, I see,

Did they send you something in the mail to tell you to go back to the INS or did you have to call them?

I-485 approved in Sep 05 and then reopen after 2 days

Guys,
same thing happened to me too. our case got approved on our interview date which was sep 15, 2005 and I got stamp too like you guys on the same day. After 2 days I got welcome notice followed by I-797C and after 2 days reopen notice.

When my lawyer inquired they said it was an error from the immigration officer who approved without checking FBI name check. After waiting for 1 year approximately my case got approved yesterday.
I would like all you guys to make sure that you file ur new EAD if it is expiring and make sure u guys make infopass.

My case got screwed bcoz of that they took all the documents during my 1st interview..but I am glad finally after a year I got approved.

Case approved 9/15/2005
case reopened 9/18/2005
1 st EAD expired 7/5/2006
renwed EAD from 6/30/2006-6/29/2006
2nd Fingerprint for i-485 10/12/06
Email from USCIS on I-485: 10/16/2006 Welcome notice sent

Did you call the phone line and did it say your case was approved? In my case both online status check and the INS phone line said my case was approved and I'm now registered as a permanent resident.

Thanks for the replies

My lawyer called up INS officer and she confirmed that she made mistake.
So I went to see her, they invalidated stamp in a passport and returned EAD and AP. So I'm back to waiting for GC, and waiting for FBI name check to get through. I just applied for EAD extension, you can do it 6 months in advance before it expires. Hope this helps.
Ann
