Weird RFE EAD Renewal ( VSC )

Today I recvd in mail, RFE for EAD renewal.

It mentions the following

"submit birth certificate of Mr XYZ"

"The birth certificate must be issued by the appropriate civil authority showing timely registration, date and place of birth, and parents names"

I am confused... Is birth certificate a required document in the initial application of EAD renewal... If not, any body got any idea how to respond to this.

Also if anybody got similar RFE... How did you respond.

Help please.

This is the first time I am reading RFE for birth certificate for EAD renewal ( they have your DOB on old EAD)
If you have attached your birth certificate or non-availability certificate or affidavits at the time of filing I-485, then send the copy of the documents, better talk to your lawyer because it seems to be new requirement

Submit the same document(s) that you did for I-485 application and first EAD card application.
If you submitted only birth certificate in I-485 filing, reply with very same certificate again.
If you submitted affidavit + non-av certificate, reply with those documents again.

Thank you all for your feedback.

But I think it is unfair to ask for document which is not a requirement for applying for EAD renewal.

Can I not call up the service center and inquire, as to why I recvd the RFE for something that is not a requirement.

What do you think?

I agree with you. As I replied in another thread that there is absolutely no logic for asking DOB certificate in EAD renewal. But still I would not waste time by calling BCIS. Rather I would send the documents they asked for ASAP. One RFE means atleast one month processing delay. It really does not sense to delay it from your side (unless it's difficult for you to produce the document again).

I called up the VSC office and got to speak to a friendly IIO. She mentioned that they have a wrong DOB entered from the pending 485 Application and hence the birth certificate RFE. Did not make sense to me as I have attached my birth certificate with 485 Application.

Anyways I have sent the RFE with my Birth Certificate.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
