today i got a letter from Richard shelby, senator Alabama., he is surprised that i had written to him supporting Mccain and kennedy bill.

I think republicans are strongly opposed to such bills, we have to be careful since in the current situation we support anything where there is a immigration word..

once someone had suggested in one of these forums to support mccain bill, and i sent a letter, but now i realise that the bill as a whole, is totally wrong.

we have to be very diligent when raising our voice in future.

another thing....i am afraid that we may be used by people who know our weakness....for promoting their own purpose....

I know :)

I got the same issue also and upset about that since the wrong request may affect all my future requests. Now, I am questioning the purpose those people who post those letters/bills in this forum ? Are they illegal immigrations that want to use us?

Actually it is immigration lawyers , like aila.org, murthy.com, immigration-law.com sites promote these bills on their homepage...

they say these bills help EB2 and EB3 in some numbers, but infact those sites and lawyers want these bills to be passed so that they get more work and more $$$$$ from those illegal immigrants by processing their visas...

any bill that does not specifically does not come out with increasing the visa numbers for indians and chinese , and any provisions to address the backlog is useless...

Again, do not support any of the 2bills this week, they are useless. You will loose your intent next time you contact these senators.. Know what you are doing... You may have already caused a damage for our own cause..

Agree

I agree we should stop supporting these bills that are primarily meant for illegals. We need to focus on our issues and get the lobby groups involved.
We can get our issues solved without supporting these bills that will make it only worse for us.
The immigrant visa numbers for Nurses and Physical Therapists (Schedule A) was increased in May 2005 with the strong lobbying of Am Hospitals Association.

Correct. AIAL/ and the immigration lawyers seem to be blind by the money. Imagine what a market, 12 million of illegals... it would be golden times for the immigration lawyers again. We need to walk away from those bills.

from Immigration-law

See the Following Breaking news from Immigration-law. How he wants us to support H1 B... Which is not at all we want.. All we want is take away Retrogression... I feel like these people are asking to support the bills with out knowing the content.. And When I checked the bill it is totally about illegal immigrants... Nothing about legal... And these people want to bring another 300,000 people to get a burden on this Retrogression...........

I hate all this.........................

10/19/2005: America and Congress, Do You Want Businesses to Outsource Jobs to Foreign Countries?

If you don't, please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and their staffs and voice your concerns by asking them to support the Budget Reconciliation and Immigration Proposals which is currently being debated to keep the jobs in the U.S. The jobs which are kept in the country will generate businesses, revenues, and competite edge ove the foreign businesses. Tell them that:
If the unused H-1B numbers of 300,000 are not recaptured and used, the U.S. businesses will have to outsource 300,000 jobs to foreign countries.
If 90,000 unused Employment Based immigrant visa quota numbers are not recaptured and used, these jobs will also be outsourced to foreign countries.
America, the jobs taken by foreign workers either in the U.S. or foreign countries depend on the market forces in the global economy and free trade. For the international competitions, U.S. business will have to rely on foreign workers, particularly high tech professionals, no matter where they perform the jobs.
However, if the job had to be done overseas by the outsourced foreign workers in a territory of a foreign country, they will not contribute to the American economy other than supply of labor forces, and these outsourced jobs will not create businesses and jobs in the related industries as they will not spend money to buy the goods and services in this country. The foreign workers who are hired and work in the country will generate and boost the country's domestic businesses and jobs as they spend their income in this country. Granted that the U.S. businesses will need their services and allegedly they will take away American jobs, the result will remain same: No matter what, whether in the form of oursourcing or hiring foreign workers within the country, probably the same number of jobs may be allegedly taken away by the global market forces. The huge difference between the two is that outsourcing of jobs will not help to create jobs and business within the country by the forced of consumption but the foreign workers in the U.S. will. Come to think of the affect of McDonald hamburger drive-in orders taken by foreign workers in a foreign country and orders taken by a foreign worker in town. Wake up, America.

Dilemma

If you google "immigration reform", may people are talking and lobbying for comprehensive immigration reform for the last 5 years. President Bush talked about it last year, but finally there is some action after a year and a half.
My point is if we start lobbying for green card reform, i dont think anything will happen for years to come. So i think, these bills give some relief to our problem. Also lets see what's going to happen tomorrow in the Judiciary committee meeting. So honestly i don't know what to say, but these bills seems to be the only relief / hope in the near future.
