Ways to find if 'Name Check' cleared ?

See my post earlier today - they didn't ask for my A#. You're dealing with USCIS - you'll never get a fully reliable answer - sounds as though they've given you as much info as they're likely to...

hi everyone,
I called TSC again today and this time i got a very nice lady. She wasn't rude at all. When i asked her to check if my name check was cleared she opened my file and told me yes it was cleared on the 15th of september. I had my finger print (code 3) done on the 22nd of september, so is it possible that my name check will be cleared this early  . And i thought the name check was based on the biometrics. Please share your ideas.

Yes they need to have A# to tell you name is cleared or not.

Hi ,
I called the TSC thrice using the POJ method. First time the lady was very nice told me they recieved my FP results. When I asked for name check status she asked for my A# but I didn't have that handy so she said she can't tell me about name check without A#. I called again this time the lady was very rude, refused to give any information regarding name check . When I told her that the previous lady told that she can give me the information if I provide the A#. She asked my A# and told me my application was still under review. I asked does that mean my name check is pending she said yes. I called again and this time the agent didn't ask for alien number but told me mine and my husband's name check is pending and asked me to call after a month. Does that mean my name check is pending. Do they need A# to give you the results of name check. Please advice what I should do.
Thanks

Name check and finger print check cleared what next?

I called the FBI today to find out about my finger print check and i was told on two different times that my finger print check was cleared the same they i did the biometrics which was on the 22nd of sept. 2006 and was forwarded to the USCIS. Can anybody tell me if this can be done so fast and if so why is there USCIS not doing anything about my case because i thought the I-140 and I-485 approvals were based on the name check(which is also cleared) and the finger print check.

Why did you not ask about the Name Check but the FP only?

I didn't ask about the name check because i was told by TSC that it was cleared. You would have found this if you had read my previous posting. Besides, when you call the FBI they won't tell you about your name check,

Hi,

I called the TSC today using the POJ method, lady asked for A# and told me that Name check/Security Clearance is completed on mycase. According to November Visa Bulletin, my PD becomes current from Nov 1st.

Thanks

I've had some peculiar problems with TSC not updating my records after FBI cleared the fingerprint. (I don't know anything about the namecheck.) I was given a fax number by TSC with recommendation that we fax them to request updating my record. Well, the fax seems to have been pretty ineffective. No LUDs on the 485. I called the PP number today and I was told the 485 file was in the file room. The agent said he would take a couple of print-outs and send them to the chief of the 485 section. He asked for all our A# numbers. I will look out for LUDs now.

I called TSC yesterday and today..and the second officer I spoke to today finally told they had recieved the fingerprint results, but that they cannot do anything till they had my Name check results. (It was funny because just 20 minutes before that another officer had said they had not recieved the security clearance--and there was no update about my fingerprint...and that she could not tell me anymore because of the privacy act..etc.)
Anyway I guess I am stuck at namecheck now, no hope for GC before the November 1st Schedule A retrogression.

I am in the same boat

I am in the same situation right now. I called the FBI and they confirmed my finger print check was done on the same day i had my biometrics and they sent it back to USCIS that same day. I called TSC about three times before the FBI call and different officers confirmed that my name check was cleared even before i had my biometrics. But there has not been any LUD on my husband and I's I-485 apart from the one we had right after the FP. And they have not done anything about the I-140. I am also worried about the Schedule A retrogression.

I called VSC USCIS and was told that my NC was OK (cleared) and they are waiting for investigation results from an external agency to do something on my case. MY RD: 10NOV02 and my transfer date back to VSC from BOS was on 05DEC05. I`m stucked in Security checks or they are considering RD:05DEC05.

From my experience the best way for you to find out if you are stuck in name check would be either of the two or both:

1) Take an Infopass appointment (Quiker method) and go to the USCIS office close to you and ask them personally about name check. Ask for a written letter indicating whatever they say. I was able to get a letter from the officer indicating that my name check was pending the first time. Some others on this forum have had no luck with this. Anyways, it is worth a try. Getting the letter will be proof for you and you will at least have good information.

Callign TSC is not the best method. I called TSC multiple times and each time I was told my name check had cleared, and I kept waiting. I later realized --- after 9 months --- that I was actually stuck in name check. So make sure you get the correct information.

2) Contact your local senator and have them run an inquiry with USCIS. This might take longer (1-2 months), but you will get to know if you are stuck in name check or not and you will get a written status report.

Hope this helps. Remember guys, the earlier you find out about your being stuck in name check the better it is. Otherwise your GC will be delayed for 2 years or more. I am a perfect example of the delay.

Hope this helps.

If you do find out early that you are stuck in NC, what can you possibly do? To file WoM you'd probably have to wait for atleast a year or two anyway.

On the other hand if everybody started making enquiries, it will slow them down even more.

I agree rollingstone...

Nowadays, getting out of namecheck blackhole is still elusive...
Even following up with FBI/congressman/senator - doesn't seem to help!
I tried it all and still no luck...
But, yep, at least you will be content that you gave it your best shot!

What do you mean by “the earlier you find out about your being stuck in name check the better it is. Otherwise your GC will be delayed for 2 years or more. I am a perfect example of the delay”?

What can you do to get a stuck NC cleared quickly if you find out you are stuck in the Name Check?

Name Check cleared?

Hi..
I got a RFE on my 485 application in September 2006 for which I replied. Does this mean my name check is cleared?

KJ and all,
Assuming that I've learned today from infopass that my case is pending NC for 10 months now. What might be my steps? Send an inquiry to FBI myself like described in PDF posted in this thread earlier? Contact senator and ask him to contact FBI? Call FBI line and try to learn whether my case is NC is still pending with them? Wait for 2 month so it'll be a 1 year since submission and ask USCIS again? Any comments/help appreciated.
