Wash DC - Waiting for Oath Ceremony

It's been 3 months since the N-400 interview, and still haven't received a notice for my Oath Ceremony. I know it will be conducted in a court, since I am changing my name. Has anyone had a similar situation (with name change) in the area, and how long was the wait? Not knowing is killing me. Thanks!

ViennaOlga:

Where did you have your interview? Was it at the Fairfax office on Prosperity Dr.?

Did you request a name change in your original N400 application, or did you request it at the interview?

(I have not had my interview yet)

Thanks in advance,
Walter

Walter,

Yes, the interview was in the Fairfax office on Prosperity Ave. It took a little over 11 months from the day of the application to the interview appointment. And, yes, I requested the name change on the original N400 application.

People that didn't request the name change were sworned in the same day at 3:30 pm.

In my case, the court will conduct the ceremony for all the folks that are changing names. I mean it will be a group of 50 people (I've been on one ceremony before). Still I don't think that SO many people are changing their names that they can't find a slot in the court for 3 months now and counting. Hmmm...

Thanks,
Olga

Got the Invitation for the Ceremony!

Finally!! The Ceremony is scheduled in the US District Court in Alexandria, VA next month. So, it took exactly 4 months after my Naturalization Interview. Oh, well...

Congratulations! Wow, it takes 4 months! Looks like requesting the name change on the original N400 is, in general, a bad idea -- it unnecessarily prolongs the process. Although, in my case it works for me because I need to travel immediately after my interview and I need my GC.

It has been almost 3 months for me, too

I know some folks here in Miami had the same interview date with me, even interview date 1 month later than me, they already took the ceremony today, but I have not received any oath letter, instead, they replied to me that I "waiting for scheduling a ceremony"

Now I remember I asked for my name change too. Maybe that is why I have to wait longer than the others.

ViennaOlga, I am very interested to see how is the ceremony in court looks like. Hope to see you in this forum after you finish the ceremony in court.

Congratulations!
