Want my parents to visit me!

Hello.

I am writing this on behalf of my friend of Indian descent.

My friend had appilied for Asylum and his application got approved. He should be getting his green card in the next 2-3 months.

He would like to get his parents to visit him. Somebody told him that he should not sponsor his parents visit as tourists to USA as this can lead to some complications at the citizenship stage or even get his GC revoked or also the IO may fear that his parents may file for asylum.

At this stage they just want to come for a visit and nothing more.

Gentlemen and Ladies what do you suggest?

1. Should he send a tourist visa sponsorship (I-134) for his parents?
2. If he sends the I-134 would it endanger his status as an Asylee?
3. Should he send the I-134 after getting his GC?

Friends please do let us know your thoughts....I know we are not lawyers and attorneys, but we value your advice and suggestions.

Regards and God Bless!!

First, congratulation to your friend for his asylum grant.
Now, Form (I-134) Affidavit of support DOES NOT guarantee THE APPROVAL of the visitors visa. His parents would need to qualify and prove non-immigrant intend.
There is no such a "complication" by filing an affidavit of support...

However, the chances of his parents getting a visitors visa ARE VERY SLIM. In the application for a visitors visa it clearly asks if your son or daughter lives in the U.S. and whats his/her status... The fact that their son/daughter has asylum granted would tell the consular officer that the parents may have an immigration intend.
However, there have been some sucssesfull cases... (I dont know if they lie in the visitors visa application and put that they dont have any relatives in the U.S, or just were lucky to qualify by their own)

As a personal experience, my grandmother (a very old and wealthy lady) have tried 2 times to get a visitor visa in South America and they were unsusscesfull. The 1st time while my mother was an asylee and the 2nd time when my mother was a PR...

We have gave up. and we are just waiting for my mother to become a US citizen and try the visitors visa one more time, and if that doesnt work, my mother will file for AOS for her mother... (what a shame that a GC maybe wasted, since she doesnt want to live here she just want to visit) hopefully she will get a visitor visa....

You can apply without affecting the asylum status.

Getting approval for a tourist visa is extremely difficult in a country that produces asylum seekers. The United States government will assume that the applicants will want to overstay.

Samething here, i tryed twice for my mom and dad. I just wait until citizenship. Not easy to get visa in south america, and some times look like is just a game of luck.....................................:(

Same problem over here .... I sponsored my mom after receiving my GC .... I am well settled.... an engineer ... own some company now .... provided documentry evidences stating these facts alongwith my Mom's ties with India but they still refused.
