Waiting Time after the interview

Hi
I applied for asylum on religious grounds last year, my Interview was done in December
After the interview the IO told me to come back in 15 days to the asylum office and pick the decision by my self
well 2 days before the given decision date , My attorney was told that I shouldn't go to the office and they will mail me the decision. Now more than 2 months have passed and I have not received the decision yet. I went to asylum office few weeks ago to do an inquiry and I was told that no decision has been made yet for my case. I have No permission to work and would still have to wait 40 plus days before I can apply for EAD.
I know lot of people who are getting decisions in 2 weeks time period.
I am Passing through the most depressing and tough times of my life
I want to know if anyone is in the same boat?
also I want to ask that is their a difference in the processing time if asylum seeker is single compared to with a family?

Some of us end up waiting a long time after the interview. My interview was in October, and I am still waiting. I have heard that the decision is delayed when one is in status (as opposed to being out of status, entered illegally etc). I just got approved for work authorization, am still waiting for my card to arrive. But no news on the result of the interview.

Hi Ms.A
I have gotten my decision and my case has been approved, You cant imagine how grateful I am.
I have two small kids and a wife and I've gone through serious depression in last couple of months regarding the decision. It's almost impossible to survive in US without permission to work and having a family at the same time for more than couple of months unless you have your relatives here who can support you.
2ndly I inquired about my case via email to which they replied and sent me the Decision :D

Thank you! It must be such a huge relief. Can you let me know which Asylum Office it was and what email you used?
