Hi all,

I am very happy to tell you mine and my wife’s I-485 cases got approved yesterday. Here are my details.

September-2001 applied Labor
April-2002 Applied I-140
I-140 got approved in June-2002
I-485 applied in September-2002

Wife’s I-485 paperwork returned back to lawyer saying they were unable to matching with primary applicant. Lawyer again sent papers in November-2002 for my wife. Wife process delayed 2 months for I-485.

July-2004 wife received FP2 notice but I did not. I followed GCHOPE2
idea and managed to gave my FP2 in Buffalo. With in a week contacted congressman to find about my FP2 status. Congressman office responded very generously and contacted VSC and replied me saying VSC received mine and my wife’s FP2 and said VSC will make sure to match FP2 with our applications and will send it to adjustcator.

In August I contacted FBI to check my FP2 clearance they said they are cleared mine and my wife’s FP2 and sent it to USCIS on July 15. I also faxed a letter to FBI to check my Name Check status. FBI took two weeks and responded us by an e-mail on Friday (Last week) saying they are completed mine and my wife’s Name Checks back in 2002.

Tuesday I updated congressman office with the FBI info., said my case is ready for approval. And requested to follow up with VSC. That resulted me and wife got approval e-mails yesterday.

This forum helped us a lot to expedite process, I am thankful to all who are posting their experiences and suggestions to others.

can you please tell me what happened after you first wrote toyour congressman? Its been 2 months since I wrote and no response.What do you suggest I do? My case has been transferred from VSC to Newark on 8/27/03.I havent recieved my 2nd FP .My ND 03/28/03.

Thank you fams, if you are already called FBI and found about your finger prints clearence or Name Checks clearence. Then mention those info. in your fax saying you are updating to the congresman office and tell them that your application is completed with all security checks and request them to check your application status or Finger prints status. when congressman office checks your status, that results your application moves fast for approval (I got this info. from my local congressman office) all the best my friend.

Did you contact FBI via phone or fax? What is the phone/fax for the Name check inquiries?

Would you please tell me if the name check and FP check by FBI are different things? I have send a request on name check to FBI through fax 3 weeks ago, no response. do I need to ask FBI again for FP check result? if so, what's the way to contact FBI for that? Thank you for the explanation, I am so confused.

Hi GCHOPE2,

For FBI Name Check and FP check, both has two different numbers.

Finger Print verification section number "304 625 5590" and press # 3 and provide the A# and the Finger Printing Date to the person on the phone and she/he will be able to tell you the status of your FP. You do not need to fax for this, phone call is enough.

For FBI Name check fax number is 202-324-2399. Use below letter patren and fax it to FBI.
