Waiting in Queue for Interview

I called the USCIS and found that the case is waiting in Queue for interview for the last 2 months. What does it mean.....is it normal or is it some thing an indication about waiting for FBI Name Check. I would like to get the experiances of the Gurus here - do they put some on in the Queue if the Name check is not completed. I heard lot of stories about the Name check backlogs....So I would like some info.....

Thanks in advance.

When I called CIS's Customer Service three weeks ago, I was told that my case would be processed in two months. Rep admitted that she couldn't see name check status in the system.

Nothing happened so far. I keep planning trips abroad, and travelling actually, not willing to put my life on hold because of the name check nonsense.

I think they have school dropouts to man the phone lines. I just hope this is not hived off to some prison. Anyway, when I called for checking on my FP letter, the lady mentioned name check is done after interview. Needless to say I had no further questions to ask!

Good thing that you are not letting the name check affect your life. You can't stop your life for the n400 application.

You might have better luck with an info pass to find out about name check. It seems most people get cleared in 6 months. Old cases are still pending, but new ones are not taking that long. There will be more resources post 30th July when the fees goes up and FBI will get more money from USCIS. They currently have only around 20 people in the Name check department.

To my understanding. When you are placed in Queue. All your checks have completed. It is only matter of time. When Do's are up to it.Than only you recieve IL.It could be 30-90days before you hear anything.Mine was cleared April and it is July .Still no IL.

I was told by the Seattle CIS IIO during my infopass appointment to not trust what the Customer Service IIO's over the phone tell you. They often provide wrong and misleading information. The CIS lady was kind enough to give me the Seattle CIS email address and asked me to email them directly to get the most uptodate and accurate information about my case.

It seems the customer service reps can not see the status of the FBI name check. They can tell when it was requested but can not tell if its completed of not unlike the reps at infopass who can see and tell more information.

name check

I am just wondering how you guys found out your case is pending name check. When I did the infopass, the IO showed me a screen showing my case is currently at NSC and that's it. He couldn't tell me whether my case is in name check or not. The 1-800 customer service rep simply told me my case is pending and told me to wait; nothing else. Maybe I didn't ask
the right question during infopass?

Please help me. I have a PD back in Oct 2006.

Yes, to obtain useful information at InfoPass, you gotta be a straight shooter: 'Was my name check cleared??'. IO should quickly hit few buttons on his(her) keyboard to navigate to correct screen and read the answer to you.

'Where is my file currently located?' is totally different question, and you know the answer already anyway.

Thanks for your reply. You mentioned that your case was cleared in April, do you mean to say that your FBI name check was cleared. How did you find out that your name check is cleared, from infopass or from IO at helpline.

I meant all checks were cleared.Including name. You only get that response with infopass appointment from Immigration officer.

i was told that once all checks are cleared they will send the interview letter with the next available date even if its 3 months away, is it not true. I dont know why they keep people in the queue for months. please share your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
