Hi, we reside in Birmingham,AL. We had citizenship test in Atlanta on July 13 and passed the test. The officer who took the test told that since we belong to Birmingham, AL the oath will be taken in Birmingham and not in Atlanta. We have to wait until
September 17th for oath and they will intimate us. It's been close to the date that the lady mentioned but we did not receive any kind of letter from them. Can any body tell me if they got this kind of situation? I am really waiting to get citizenship as I am planning to go India once I got the citizenship. Any answers is really appreciated.

Just wait, since today is the 1st of September, which means USCIS still have 16 days to send you the invitation for oath. There is nothing to worry about, USCIS told you your ceremony will be in AL, so that's where is going to be, no need to worry. I rarely see people from AL on this forum, but I am sure someone has had similar experience and will share. My hunch is, USCIS is going to do as it promised it will, naturalize you as soon as possible for you to go to India...lol!!

One another thing that I forgot to mention is some of them who live in our area has went to citizenship test after we went. They passed the test and had oath on same day in Atlanta. I am not sure why we were told like that and why is it not same for everybody who live in Birmingham,AL.

Can we talk directly to our interview officer? I know it is really frustrating at this last stage.

what number do u need ?customer service or what>?if u want to tlk to io just call customer service and tell them you need to speak to io

Hi Amitabh, I think most of them are suggesting to go for info pass in this fourm. We also called customer service but later we realised it is of no use as the customer service guy did not provide extra information apart from what is there on website.

Hi alabama21, thanks for the update. But can we join the oath ceremony without the letter?

Hi alabama21, thanks for the update. But can we join the oath ceremony without the letter?

Absolutely NOT. You CANNOT be part of the ceremony which you were never invited, your oath letter is that invitation. Since all of you are so anxious, just make an info pass and talk USCIS, request a service inquiry. Alternatively, you can write an inquiry letter directed at the office which your interview was conducted, it will force the officers to look at your case and make a determination as to whether an oath letter is long overdue. However, being an uninvited guest at the oath ceremony could be problematic to you, notwithstanding how you plan to bypass security officers at the door.

i will give you the phone number for district court and call them maonday 205-278-1701 the lady she is so nice .but when i talk to her she tell me call on end of october for she can see the names and tell me if my name is on the list ,and u cant go without oath letter

No, I don't want to take any risks of going to ceremony without any oath letter and get into trouble. I was just asking as I am not aware of it.
