hi all,
i would need some of your help.

my wife and i had our interview (los angeles, ca) on aug. 27, 2010. we passed the interview (cr-6).
how long would the GC arrive in our mailbox?
i would think 2-3 weeks but in the same time i am waiting very patiently and worried what if it's lost in the mail?

thank you for your time and help!

Are we not supposed to receive any kind of welcome letter? Or directly wait for the GC card?

Did u receive any letter till now, since the approval?

Triple Citizen, Can you please answer an offline question : Can one get Chenzen Visa based on I-551 Stamp Or one has to have GC in hand to apply?

best regards,
mg

i really don't know if there will be a welcome letter.
i assumed i would just wait for the GC. i might be wrong.

i haven't receive any letter in the mail since my interview approval.
i did have the notice letter right after my interview.
does that count as the welcome letter?

maybe i worry too much now?

Curious how do you know you passed the interview? as the officer is not suppose to tell you but inform you that a decision will be made within 30 days and if approved you will receive a "Welcome to America" letter showing your approval within a couple weeks after your approval. We thought we had done a fine job during our interview in July and then come Sept, they are requesting another interview.
Hopefully, you did get approved, call the 800 number and ask about the pending card making to see what they say as the website is not up to date.

You mean Schengen?
I reckon most Schengen member state consulates in the US will recognise the I-551 stamp as proof of permanent resident status.

france did not recognize..

hello triple citizen,

thanks for ur prompt response..

we went today to the france consulate in SFO.....first of all it was dissapoining to see that the lady sitting outside didnt even allow us to meet the officer inside without appoiuntment....can u imagine the consulate was completely EMPTY,, still they said come back with appointment !! very dissapointing..

but I requested the lady ,and explained the case that, we cannot do bookings and might loose 5-6K is we get rejected for the visa and bookings were done....so she went inside and showed the I-551 stamp to the officer and...that fellow:( didnt agree and said we need a proper GC card to apply !! and asked us to come again on Thursday !!

dont know wat to do !!

regards,
mg

right after our interview, we were handed with "notice to conditional permanent resident alien" letter.
on the letter it listed the file # A#########, name, DOB, COB, class: CR6.
at the bottom of the letter it also have this "admitted on: august 27, 2010 until august 26, 2012"

its been 1 month. i will continue to wait. hopefully soon!
