waiting for EAD and AP

My EAD and AP were filled in the end of June in Texas. has anyone received EAD and AP that were filled around this date?

Also for how long can I stay out of the country when my AP arrives? can I wait for my greencard in my own country?

You have to come back to US
1. before US expiry
2. To receive 485 approval.

Only issue I see is that INS may come to know that you are out of job (if you are primary applicant ). If your perspective employer cannot offer you a job immediately (EAD lets you work), INS will read it as "employer has no intent to offer the job in future". This is a ground for denial.
