a friend put in for asylum. he was still legal and was told that he would get answer in the mail (told him of the horror stories of people not getting mail because their name wasn't in the mailbox. he doesn't, so he will see if he could). it has been like five weeks. he told me he will do an infopass to see what is up. should he? and how long should he wait for an answer? thank you.

It generally takes longer than five weeks.

hi there.........same story for one of my friend. He has been waiting his decision for 4 years. I don't want to make your friend nervious but my friend still waiting decision and have not received anything but EAD only..................!

If they told that they will send the decision via mail, it could take 5/6 years also. If your friend has missed his Bio (finger prin) and due to this, they are holding his decision, then he will receive the decision soon otherwise... it will take long time............ yes that good idea to get infopass and ask the details about why they are holding his decision. If he wish, uour friend may visit directly to Asylum office also (where he take his interview).

miami, but how could your friend do it? anyway, six years! no bio i think. but they would have bio before decision? i know that those who are illegal go back two weeks later and are told yes or no. and now we are looking at years? but is that w or w/o bio? thanks.

some have told me that one gets an initial decision and then later on they are are given a final decision. if so, if the five years the first or last decision? and if my friend must wait years, can he get ead and/or social? thank you.
