I am not really being pessimistic but wont believe CSC has
started till I see solid approvals showing up on board.
Some odd-man-out cases might be getting approved once in blue moon but i dont really wanna rejoice till some real thing shows up.

I feel like similarity to movie scene of Lagaan when village people starts singing songs looking at the clouds and rejoice rain in advance and when the song is over. Clouds are gone.

Not criticizing you people, critising myself too. I am sick of waiting :(

Sillman you are correct,

Sometimes jokes don't come through well electronically.

The Village People was a disco music group here in the 70s. Yes Sillyman, I would agree about the fruitcake part.
I'm Canadian, and I forgot that some people here might not get the reference.

I laughed at it, as I usually do for my own jokes.

I am usually upto date on music groups and current events, but for some reason, the village people joke just zoomed past me! :)

I am glad someone understood Kenny's joke! :)

And the news is out that SillyMan listens to "fruitcake music group" :)

Kenny, you are canadian, does the INS give you a pain in the ass hassle too, or is it just us? If u don't mind my asking, is your 485 marriage based or emp? (Reason I'm asking, wanna verify if the list online includes marriage cases).

I am curious too, if you don't mind answering a personal question, why would you even try for American permanant residence when you have such a good thing going back home in Canada!

Great questions.
Our decision to leave Canada was difficult. I wanted to go to graduate school and become a teacher. My wife had been in the same job for over 10 years, so we both were looking to change.
We were looking at moving anyway and decided on somewhere warmer (North Carolina, although it isn't wamrer today). My wife works for a school board and has a Masters so I140 was not a problem. My brother has a green card (marriage although divorced) and has been in US for a long time, encourage us to look at US as a possibility.

As for hassle, we had RFE for I140 and for I485. So I guess we are in the same boat. The I140 RFE I believe was triggered by 9/11. We are not making big money here, so we haven't used a lawyer. The 485 RFE has been pending for 3 months, so we are hopeful. We are both working and enjoying ourselves here so its not that big a deal; but it would be nice to have it over with. Our PD is October,2000.

I am usually impressed with people doing what they want to do as compared to what they should do! That is the biggest problem that they have in India. There are such limited avenues of growth that the peer/society pressure is so intense in certain fields it is impossible to do anything different. Kudos to you for doing something like that. Not to mention teaching kids, which means you actually have a say in other people's life as compared to something like writing software, which is great don't get me wrong, but doesn't have the same impact.

I hear you buddy! It is getting boring discussing if CSC ate nachos for lunch and if they are going to fart or shit out an approval today! I am also getting irritated with these newbies who refuse to put in any effort to look for answers but are always looking for the easy way out. I think this board is a great place to meet people, getting to know some interesting personalities online. Most of us will probably never meet but it is interesting to see people's reaction to situations. I guess that is more the reason I come to the board these days as compared to checking the status of CSC's bowel movement! :)

A request though, if you do start a thread off topic, make sure the heading says so clearly! Don't want to inconvinience people who are here for the serious business of checking CSC's hemroids! :D
 
I agree with I140. This country definitely needs teachers like KennyG and such for the people here are so ill-educated to teach others. Blinded by media, people are so ill-informed. Good techers can definitely change the society and bring in the "Volksgiest"

Education is very poor in a lot of places here. I work in a school that is considered inner city. Some of the grade 5 students can barely read. I was shocked my first day when I asked a student (11 years old) to read to me. She couldn't. Many kids don't care and the parents don't either. Its sad.

Good job on keeping the spirits up. Although my case is at VSC, I enjoy this thread more... (Plus my interview would be in CA since I live here).

Lately I am having fantasies such as replying to the INS in their own words. If I get an RFE, I could reply with a letter "Your application for further evidence has been received on ..... It is taking me 90-120 days to process this type of case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, please speak to me during the hours of 8pm - 8.15pm monday through tuesday."

Or I could write "You may wish to verify or update your address".

I could also make a stationary web page on my server with that info, and in the letter tell them that they can check their RFE status online, and that the site "is usually updated within several minutes of me taking action". After their first hit, for a week I could change the page to "Your request was denied: Too many inquiries"

The possibilities are endless.
