Wac#s how?

Does anyone knows how the BCIS assigns wac #s?

The reason why I ask is that when I typed in my wac # and accidently made a mistake I realized that it is for EAD card. I kept on changing the #s intentionally and guess what none of them showed I-485 cases.

Just wondering why people who filed 485 within my time frame (ND 04 02 02) FP 05 31 02. do not have same wac#s.

Can anyone shed light.
 
all apps are processed and numbered as they come.

WAC-XX-YYY-ZZZZZ

WAC = CSC
XX = BCIS YEAR
YYY = BCIS WORKING DAY OF YEAR
ZZZZZ = NUMBER ASSIGNED TO APP IN SERIAL ORDER AS PROCESSED.

BCIS working day - that's just an urban legend, there's no such thing as BCIS working day. They don't work, they are only present in their office building.

It'll be interesting to see where does working day 299 fall? My wac is - wac 01 29x xxxxx.

1 working year
= 52 weeks + 2 days (leap year)
= 52 weeks x 5 days/week + 2 days
= 262 days

Anybody cares to explain? Where does the wac 299 series come from? :)

So that's just an urban legend

I did some random searches on the website

You can go upto 299 on WAC-01, but not 300
You can go upto 289 on WAC-02, but not 290

Go figure!

Caveat: My tests were not exhaustive.
 
So, its not 52X5, but 52X6 (saturdays that are not holidays are counted too)
And BCIS holidays are not counted.

Not that BICS works on Saturdays, but they are counted because mail gets delivered that day.
And the holidays are not mail holidays but BCIS holidays which are many more than mail holidays.
Hence you can definitely go upto 299. This is as far you can go with logic in BCIS.
 
Then how come i am WAC-03-029-...

My notice date is Nov '02. According to the logic, BCIS Year doesnt end in Dec?? Or am i misunderstanding the logic
 
then explain this...

- go to the BCIS case status web page
- type in WAC031685ABCD (ABCD = random, say 0432)
response is "On May 12 2003 we received....."
- instead, type in EAC031685ABCD (same ABCD)
response is "On May 14 2003 we received...."

Wish I had been a supervisor for immigration officer

I simply wish I had been an immigration officer. My aim in 10-12 years hopefully if citizenship still exists in America I would luv to become an immigration officer.


Simple reason: No work but handsome pay. Just like the government jobs in India.

You kind of got it...BCIS years starts Oct 1st of the year...

I think the explanation of how the WAC is given is almost accurate, thoiugh Ive seen some minor abberations...My own WAC by my recipt & by Kashmir's updates differ by 1 day...wac02-161 by kashmir's data is April 15th, but my ND is april 16th...

but the logic seems almost accurate...
