W2 to 1099 after 'Cards Ordered' Status

Hello Friends,

My 485 status changed to 'Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident' on Jun 22, so hoping to get the cards in couple of days. I have been waiting so long for this and am curious to know how long do we need to wait to move from a W2 to work on a 1099? Are we still bound to work for few more months or are we good if we have the physical card in hand?

Please enlighten me on this.

Way to go. wait few days for card, show it to SS Office and get Work authorization reqd removed from SS Card and start rocking. I will still have to stick to employer for a while or else I will have to pay them GC expenses.

do whater ever ,you are a free bird.You can work on 1099 even when u r in EAD status ant way it is green for you to work.
 
yeah, i also have a similar question.

i am currently on W2-hourly with my employer.
1) What do I need to do to switch to 1099-hourly? (in addition to bargaining for 5-6 bucks more, since I'll be paying the taxes on 1099)
2) More importantly, can I switch from W2 to 1099 in the middle of a year? Meaning, will it really complicate my tax filing next year?
3) Do I need to be incorporated (as a company) in order to switch to 1099?
