VSC stopped approving I-485 effective 11/21/02???

My attorney wrote to me the following...

"In fact, the INS, effective last Thursday (November 21), has stopped approving I-485s pending further security checks of applicants...."

true???

why me????

That was certainly the rumor. This was verified by AILA late Friday.

I don't think anybody knows exactly :
1. What INS is really doing during this pause (we all thought IBIS was the security system and it was already in place) ?

2. How long this will freeze continue?

3. Will they continue to adjudicate cases during this time and simply hold off on the last approval announcement step pending new security check? (as some posters on the board have suggested).

I don't consider my attorney as very knowledgable...

so, if we can prove it wrong and if things continue to happen, it would be great.

don't know what really happened with the Sept. leftover filers!!! i am one of them with no update at all.......

I spoke to attorney

I spoke to my attorney, and she said that INS has not stopped processing, but they have slowed down, for reasons unknown to her.

She is guessing that it may be because of new Security checks and restructuring of INS.

I think, even the Attorneys have no knowledge about what is really going on inside INS
