VSC not sending receipt notice anymore

I mailed N-400 application on 10/02/07. Cash was checked on 11/26/07. I got the finger print notice today, scheduled on 1/18/08 at 1pm in Boston.

I did not receive the receipt notice for a long time, and when I called them last week, the immigration officer told me they don't send receipt notice anymore. Seems to be true in my case, but it's strange.

Priority date:10/03/07

Receipt date:???
Finger print notice:1/2/08
Finger print date:1/18/08.

less paper work so they will be faster...so you don't know any estimated time for interview date since it is stated on the receipt..

I am very disturbed by this and am inclined to think you spoke to a customer service representative rather than an Immigration Information Officer (IIO) or an Immigration Officer (IO).

The Notice of Action (NOA) is proof of your application and most importantly your fee receipt. It is also an opportunity for you to provide feedback if your date of birth is incorrect, or an opportunity for CIS to inform you that you are missing evidence (i.e. tickets, etc). Plus, a service center cannot decide to not send out NOAs without authorization and I find it odd that only VCS isn't sending out NOAs while all others are. Do you not think a notice would have been published by CIS if all NOAs have been stopped?

Try calling back again and informing them your check was cashed an an NOA has not been received. Do not tell them about the FP notice and ask to speak to an IO. Lets see what they say this time.. How much do you want to bet the answer will be different?

Goop point. When I called them few weeks back, the first person I spoke to was customer service agent. I told her about my case and she transferred me to immigration officer. He said they dont send NOA anymore. I actually called again, and the second immigration officer said they haven't send anything yet.

I dont know if I missed it in mail, but it is very unlikely. Also, online status has not been updated yet.

I called USCIC today and the lady told me they sent the receipt notice on 12/10/07. I'm not sure how it got lost, she said the receipt notice is just to confirm the receipt of application and it doesn't have any more information and not to worry.

I guess the previous officers (or customer reps) were wrong.

Can someone tell me if it's ok to not have the receipt notice? I have the finger print letter though. Do they send another letter for interview asking me to bring any additional documents?

As far as I know, the USCIS asks you to send a copy of your NOA along with any correspondence you send them, as well as to bring it with you to the InfoPass appointment, should you have to schedule one. It's a rather important piece of documentation, and you should insist that they send you a new one. I'd also notify the USCIS Ombudsman about the misinformation provided to you by the NCSC reps.
