VSC not processing 485 cases normally

Even if they pass a bill, won't save us. The AC21 bill did mention 6 months, but now it's 19 months. we don't need a bill. We need
senators calling VSC director immediately. Just need one word of him, like "hey you guys, process 485 backlog first". We'll be saved.

My 2 cents

Everyone knows and agrees that everything in this world revolves around money. If we think to setup some fund like "485 backlog reduction fund" and request the applicants to donate money and someone from us(the most appropriate person would be Mr. Rajiv Khanna himself) will actually reprsent us. That money should go for hiring and allocating more resources to process 485 applications.

Suppose in January there were 7368 applications. If each donates, say $100, it mounts to be 7368 * 100 = 736,800, which is a lot of money. And thats only January 2002 cases. Think about all months, It will be a huge amount of money.

But this may not be as simple as it is said but you guys can try to refine this idea to make it work. . .

Re: My 2 cents

gcgcgcgc ,
C'mon buddy, I don't think this will work. Once even VSC director addressed the issue by mentioning that the service center doesn't get all the application fees as fund for the service center instead they will be allocated different amount by federal government (probably it might be less than application fees).
But I accept Funding is the issue and we have to think and push for the funding issue. But again, How??????????????

dsatish,
Like you even I was surprised about the response for ISN.org .

To All,
I think most of us even forgot about the fineprints of AC21 like breaking country limitation really favored the countries that were facing per country limitations( about 10,000 GCs per country in a year for each category). If not for this AC21 bill, most of the Indians and Chinese would not have obtained their GCs during the last three years.
Wondering , What's the necessity to recall all this ? Just I would like to ask everyone(who were all benefitted by this AC21) what have you contributed to immigration reform or would you ever contibute anything for immigration reform?
Most of us would be just whining till we get the GC approval and then just say Goodbye to this forum. How many of us visit H1B or I-140 forum to contibute your experience????????

I am 200% in agreement with you, Edison. Lets say you create a fund and allocate that money to the lazy IIO's. Guess what, they would become even lazier. It is not the funds that is a problem for them; they need an excuse not to work and EB cases are the lowest in their priority. I read somewhere that the consulate bordering Mexico and Texas accomplishes the same work in one day as one of the SC's accomplishes in a month with fewer number of people. So these IIO's need to be pressured from the top and we need funds to lobby our cases because we are not important to the politicians as we vote according to our conscience when we become citizens. But gcgcgcgc, let us be realistic here and collect a donation of 10-25 dollars to intensify the lobbying.

Also let us inform the moderator and make sure that the ISN and other links for lobbying are available to everyone at the top of every page.

I can't belive people are discussing hypothitical and impossible to happen scenarios and getting happy. What a bunch of wishful thinkers. No matter what BCIS will take its own time. Let them work dude's and stop worrying about them. Concentrate more on your work than BCIS's work!!!!. Or else you might get fired and may never get GC.

If you concentrated on your own work more than paying attention to what everyone discusses here, then you would not have asked others to concentrate more on their work! Do your work and keep your mouth shut!! Otherwise, YOU might lose your job!

how do you explain....

I do not think you are correct. VSC is continuing to process Jan, Feb and some MArch cases. Dec RD cases may have missed the fingerprint deadline and hence there is slowdown. Lot of cases are getting transferred too. There is no need for them to show that dates are moving. Who is going to question them if dates do not move ?

I am a november case, passed my 20 month anniversary, my fingerprint was received by them July 30th, 2002. It is not even close to expiring.

Passing the fingerprint deadline does NOT slow down processing.

It is my believe that those with expiring fingerprints are getting priorties.

If there is no need for them to show the dates are moving, why do they bother then? to give us false hope?

Back to issue of funding:

Everyone is saying 485 processing is the low priority task. That means in allocating funds also, it comes in the lower order. If we can establish a fund, that can contribute ONLY TO GC PROCESSING, I think they will try to spend it. If there are funds available, no one will try NOT to spend it.

The idea of lobbying also sounds good.

In any case, we need a big person like Rajiv Khanna to establish a process. . .

VSC Slowdown

I agree VSC has slowed down. About 2 months ago they were moving quite fast through the Jan 2002 cases, in fact the number of RFEs sent out (based on other threads) easily shows that.

At that point, cases with RFEs were being adjudicated days after they received teh response and now there are many cases in which the response has been there for almost a month and no action (mine inclueded)

It could be the fingerprint issue, or the fact that summer is slow because of absenteeism and vacations, or a change in priirities. I suspect that at some point approvals or fingerprint notices will start coming out in bunches (I hope soon)

Patience, is one thing I learned through the process.

:(
